Can a spouse and Blackberry coexist?
Hello. My name is Adam and I'm a Social Media Addict.
If you ask my wife, that's how I should start every morning - confirming my sickness for all the world to hear.
But is it really a sickness? Cristin Norine wanted to find out - so she's holed herself up in a storefront for all the world to see - with only social media as a means of communicating with the outside world. She calls it the "Public Isolation Project." http://bit.ly/gtpk4A

Neither believes in freedom of speech.
The fact that the Chinese regime restricts free thought is not a surprise, but the Church of England is wearing the "social media dunce cap" today for suspending a Bishop who wasn't chomping at the bit to hear the latest about Prince William and soon-to-be Princess Kate and their pending nuptials - http://on.mash.to/h3VYfq.
The offense by China prompted this response from Twitter CEO Dick Costolo to the Chinese government, "Dear Chinese Government.Year-long detentions for sending a sarcastic tweet are neither the way forward nor the future of your great people." http://bit.ly/bb0D8n
Social Media is supposed to be the platform that renders all opinions equal and affords everyone the right to share their own. Apparently China and the Church of England didn't get the memo.

Thanks for reading my innaugural post here at MediaSocializin. My intention for this blog is simple ... to find interesting nuggets relating to social media in some way - and throw in my 2 cents.

Social Media has been apart of my life since the days of dial-up, when participating in online communities was foreign to most people - and had to be explained to even the most tech-savvy folks. Before there was Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn ... before companies used social media for customer support and sales communities ... before we couldn't leave home without our phones ... remember those days?
That's when I started in this business ... managing B2B and B2C communities for AARP, AT&T WorldNet, Sony and more! What did managing mean? It meant doing everything for a community, as companies didn't have marketing people dedicated to this medium.
Social Media didn't stop there ... just about the time I was getting into online communities, I was also busy meeting my wife online! Yes, thank you AOL! Ten years later we're still together - and so are my wife and I. :)
